I’m actually really proud of Grian in this episode, he fixed Mumbo’s floor, he came up with a solution for the chests monster, he worked on the base and it turned out amazing!!!
And in Mumbo's video, he admitted he rage quitted because of the floor. After he did, he thanked whoever did it, which he also didn't know it was Grian.

I joined this channel around the start of Season 8, but I didn't watch hermitcraft until Season 8 ended. I been watching up to date now, starting from ep 1, season 8, to now, and also been watching small bits of season 7 and 6. I don't fully understand how much you miss him but I definitely feel a tiny bit of excitement.

I started watching in season seven but sometime in the middle of season seven, I started watching season 6. When I heard chicken noises my hopes skyrocketed and when poultry man showed up, I almost screamed!
Grian, Mumbo was almost at tears because of that floor being not centered.
Mumbo basically rage-quited because of it for the day and was very bothered and sad about it so, yup, Grian just did him a great favour
So procrastinating the back of the base basically saved mumbos sanity?

As for the storage pit: you could dedicate different corners to different kinds of blocks. Like the wood corner or the stone corner. And then try to place boxes full of that stuff in those corners. It's not binding or anything, so it's not as restrictive as a normal storage system, but when you are looking dor something, you know in which vicinity to look
You should store everything in grey and light grey shulker boxes so they blend in to the pit.
For the whole “don’t build the back” thing, your base next season needs to be smack-bang in the middle of the sever so that every side is an approach side, so every side needs to be designed as though it were the front :P
For anyone wondering about the target block, Mumbo was doing achievement hunting and one of them was to hit a bullseye from 50 blocks away. Mumbo placed the target block in Grian's base then shot at it and left it there. Grian thought it was a prank and now they are at a war placing the target block in each other's bases.
Bullseye is 30 blocks, sniper duel is 50

I think every hermit should get together one season for 1 huge project, I believe it would be amazing to see all the hermits working together on a huge project.
The way that you’re dealing with both, building your base and the storage problem reminds me of how I tackle my daily life as a neurodivergent person. Sometimes, the way that everyone does things just won’t work for you even if it seems to work for everyone else and that’s alright, sometimes you just gotta find other ways to do things. It’s nice to see that it’s a shared experience. Good luck with your storage pit, I hope that’s a solution that works for you

You should rig a storage sorting system wherein you throw your items into a hopper floor that funnels the items into the actual sorting system, so you CAN just dump them in, but it’ll still be organized!

I get the feeling that Poultry Man is returning. This really feels like the nostalgia season, with lots of things returning from previous ones.
Grian, a tip for your base, make it so there IS no back, make every side detailed with enough entrances so you can always finish the back.
The asymmetry was completely accidental. Mumbo didn't realize it wasn't symmertrical until he got to the middle.

Grian should make the middle area a lane/pond. I would like to see a little aesthetic things on the ground than just random chests
For your storage system put flowing water under all the chests. Then, every once in a while break all of your chests and the item form of them will merge. For example, how many chests do you think have rotten flesh in them or dirt or cobble.
