Hermitcraft 9: Episode 46 - COVERING THE PERIMETER

Doc’s “motivational messages” actually motivating them to do it because it builds them with rage is hilarious

Docs announcements were by far the most dystopian thing I’ve seen come out from a Minecraft video. Genuinely terrifying 1984 stuff

Grian said they have spent about 20 hours covering the perimeter.
Which is about 1,200 minutes.
And a minecraft day is 20 minutes.
So Grian and the buttercups have listened to Doc's morning and night motivational speech for about 120 times.

Things the hermits have all worked together on
1) building a base extending to the height limit on the empires smp
2) covering hole

Grian! You have to now convince Scar to build a massive panda sanctuary over the perimeter! They are a protected species, Doc will have no choice but to keep the terraforming restoration!

The fact even Iskall logged in to help out is awesome.

Grian: Finishing a base is HARD!
Also Grian: Lets place 250,000 blocks to get back at doc

In the words of Doc: "Your incompetence is your greatest power!"
That is THIS summed up in an entire episode. I couldn't stop laughing. Just the idea of seeing Doc's face when he comes back. 🤣

I'm calling it now: Doc's next episode is called "One-Up Buttercup" and whatever he does is beyond a mere mortal's imagination.

Okay but does anyone else want a 14 hr podcast that’s just the audio of them doing this?

I love to imagine how confused Doc would be if he logged on and thought the chunks reset or something

The sheep thing is from when Zedaph and Tango bred/grew a sheep in midair without it ever touching the ground. The sheep is still hanging at Tango's base.

Grian took Doc’s “did you grind enough today” very personally.

The sheer amount of effort to complete this prank is amazing.... this should get recognized as the biggest prank of Hermitcraft and even Minecraft history

They should have added a village with path blocks, farms, blacksmith, bell, everything somewhere on the reclaimed perimeter.

As a builder the fact that they actually went through with this gives me mad respect for them

Dude, you've just covered 15,635 chunks with only 7 - 10 players over the span of 2 days. That is a feat in it's own right, I congratulate you all

Hearing that Iskall joined to help out. I missed seeing him on the server. Glad to know it’s possible to see him again in the future.

everyone coming together for this silly HUGE project is honestly amazing. i'm so warmed by groups of friends coming together for one objective, no matter how silly. makes me very happy

Covering the perimeter was probably the most satisfying and beautiful timelapse I’ve seen

In Poland, we have a saying "gdyby kózka nie skakała to by nóki nie zamała," which roughly translates to "If the goat hadn't jumped, it wouldn't have broken its leg" and I think this is the best thing to describe the whole situation.

The buttercup campsite crater is now a bigger hole than the perimeter...

i think Doc can call it the underworld now, looks kinda cool tbh

In case anyone was wondering: The sheep in the sky was for a custom Zedvancement, where he had to breed a baby in the air and fly it around until it grew up.

25:06 Scars head was blocking the hole so it just looked like Mumbo flew through the ground and I died

They should make a world backup for download for people to see because doc is probably just going to blow it all up.

Is anyone else willing to bet that doc will actually love the terrain and start building on top of it?

The multiple biomes of the perimeter actually make it look really cool

Grain: "I dont really like undoing work"
Also Grian: "It would be a funny prank if we undid the entire perimeter"
Mumbo: "My entire base has got to go"

Grian said "big pick energy" and then decided that it probably wasn't the best idea, but I would really like to appreciate "big pickaxe energy" staying in the intro

can we just appreciate that one block hole that's still somewhere in the perimeter plains because grian forgot to place a grass block over it?

And seeing the hermits coming to help, that's just wonderful.

I absolutely loved the return to nature for the Perimeter! :D
An idea for what to do about the ring in front of Scarland: What if you moved the ring about 10-15 blocks further away and made it bigger (so the center matches the center of Scarland)? Maybe "bury" it a bit so it isn't too tall. And then make an "echo" of the ring a few blocks closer to Scarland (same shape, but fewer blocks and more gaps), in the colors of the Scarland entrance (granite on bottom, oxidized copper on top, sandstone(?) in between, with some randomness thrown in).
At least the way I'm picturing it, asthetically, it should make a great transition between your base and Scar's. And lore-wise... it would look like there's a bit of interference between the Rift's energies and Scarland. :)

Docs builds never cease to amaze me, that speaker thing for the morning and night was just so simple but insane at the same time.

What can Doc do? Famous last words as Doc somehow finds a way to end season 9 just to one up the Buttercups.

Ironic, that in order to defeat Doc, the Buttercups has to do the most grinding they ever had... they became the very thing they swore to destroy.

Doc’s speakerphone announcement thing is so dystopian I love it

Whoever decides to create an animatic of this Buttercup meeting NEEDS to include a shot of Grian ripping the side of a chair clean off to write on with a Sharpie. Lmao

Doc's voice acting in those messages are genuinely terrifying, he's really good at doing a menacing voice.

You should add lakes or rivers - It's better looking and harder to remove

Mumbo walking away and jumping off while not saying anything, was the most funny moment of the season!

The sheep is a Zedvancement with Tang where they got a sheep to grow up while in flight, and then never let it touch the ground

you could put several floating arches over the bridge? that would look really cool while you walk across to Mumbos base and add to the floating rock formations you have going on. Just a thought lol

The fact that all this started with Scar and Grian hitting a note block one too many times is amazing

In this episode, the hermits rise and grind together to make the great goat leader proud

Oh. My. God. I really want to see the look on Doc's face when he gets back. One of the best pranks (irl) id seen was in college when someone removed the door frame, wall-papered over the door , and left the radio going in the room. This is that but a whole community doing it a thousand times larger. The trees were a crowning touch. Hats off, buttercups, a triumph!

Doc loved Grian's "this is doc's world, we just live in it" line so much that he is now using it everywhere. Cant blame him. Its a really scary line lol.

I came back to say this episode helped me cope with doing map art for the first time. I was trying to see how many blocks fit in a 128 x 128 space and it was...not this much but a lot then I remembered what you said, "let me hit you with some numbers" and now it's only 9 13/27 shulkers boxes of blocks!

I love how Mumbo just got dragged into this war somewhere along the line. 😆

You somehow made one of the most repetitive and menial tasks I've ever encountered, placing a quarter million dirt blocks, look beautiful in that timelapse. I'm really impressed with that, just as I am with your idea to build the hills along countour lines.

Grians base could be a rock garden of sorts that people could walk through as a sort of leisurely stroll before they go to scarland.

They probably don't realise that the thing that is going to annoy Doc the most about this is not that the perimeter is covered, but how far the ender dragon above Doc's flagpole will have shifted.

Okay, so hear me out, technically the Buttercups are the GOATs now:
Grind- they gathered a Perimeter's amount of dirt
Optimize- they did the maths to gather the dirt as quickly as possible between the three of them
Automate - they had other hermits help do their work to go a little faster
Thrive- the Perimeter is now lush and beautiful now that nature is thriving on top of it
I think it's official... the GOAT has officially been out-GOAT'd

I can't wait for Doc to come back and make all the normal land Perimeter...

I can imagine doc making a massive water flying machine over top of all three of their bases, and overflowing everything with water

the fact that grian basically brainwashed himself to not start a war but procceds to do it anyway makes me laugh

Not gonna lie... if I were Doc I'd be very tempted to keep the perimeter cover - or most of it - just because the underground perimeter looks incredibly badass. A huge artificial cave.

Horrifically time consuming it may have been, but damn if that aerial timelapse wasn’t one of THE most satisfying things I’ve seen in a good long while

also, the perimeter is actually even more of a feat of minecraft because of how impressive it was to dig out, but THEN to give it a roof is and additional epic feat

This reminds me of one of my worldbuild projects that had it's terrain broken by updates, it still isn't finished and its been two years, and I had to go in and do this due to it breaking so badly.

I predict that the next perimeter machine doc creates will rectify this, but then it’ll just keep going and start blasting away at their bases

The "This is Doc's World we just live in it" has just directly been challenged by half of the server.
